Cosplay Is Not Consent & Anti-Harassment Policy
Statement of Policy
At SEMOcon, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all attendees. We celebrate creativity, diversity, and the freedom of expression that comes with cosplay and participation in our event. To ensure that everyone has a positive experience, we strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and inappropriate behavior.
Cosplay Is Not Consent
Wearing a costume does not grant permission for inappropriate behavior or unwanted interactions. All attendees, guests, exhibitors, and staff must respect the personal boundaries of others. This includes:
Touching: Do not touch anyone without explicit permission. This includes hugs, grabbing, groping, or any other form of physical contact.
Photography: Always ask for permission before taking photos or videos of individuals, especially cosplayers. Respect their right to decline.
Comments: Avoid making inappropriate or sexual comments about someone’s appearance, costume, or body.
Anti-Harassment Policy
Harassment in any form will not be tolerated. Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
Verbal abuse: Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, or religion.
Intimidation: Deliberate stalking or following.
Physical abuse: Unwelcome physical contact.
Unwanted attention: Persistent and unwanted solicitation of social interaction, contact information, or personal details.
Disruption: Sustained disruption of talks, panels, or other events.
Reporting and Consequences
If you experience or witness harassment or any behavior that makes you uncomfortable, please report it immediately to event staff or security personnel. You may also send a message to our social media, if you are not comfortable talking to us face to face.
We take all reports seriously and will promptly investigate any complaints. Consequences for violating this policy may include:
Verbal warnings.
Expulsion from the event without a refund.
Notification of local law enforcement if necessary.
Commitment to Safety
SEMOcon is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all attendees. We encourage everyone to:
Respect each other's space and boundaries.
Support those who speak out about harassment.
Promote a culture of kindness and respect.
Thank you for helping us create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Let’s work together to make SEMOcon an enjoyable and memorable experience for all!
